If the sun is beating down, begin painting in a shaded area to give the paint an adequate amount of time to dry. Paint that dries too quickly may blister and flake prematurely.

Just like any other surface, it is important that you prepare the outside of your home to be painted by cleaning it off any dirt and debris. You can paint over existing paint, as long as it is smooth and in good condition.
